Where Can I Camp in The Van?
Paid campgrounds and free public land camping are, by far, the best place to park, but there are many options. Some people crash in convenient Bass Pro parking lots, stealth camp in quiet neighborhood streets, or park in their friends driveway. It all boils down to your comfort level. What About Mileage?
We want your planning, booking, and rental to be as easy as possible. No crazy packages or math. Every rental comes with 100 free miles a night. After that, mileage is simply charged at .25/mile. Just head to our booking page, select your van, dates, and click reserve now.
Can I Extend My Rental?
Yes! Depending on our calendar of availability we do allow extensions. Many renters decide they just aren't ready to come back to reality. All extensions are handled on a case by case basis and the sooner you reach out the better your odds are for success.
Can I Bring My Pet?
Want to bring your fur babies along? No problem! We are dog friendly! Cats are not allowed on rentals. Simply add the pet cleaning fee to your cart to cover additional cleaning.
Whats if I need to cancel?
Life is crazy sometimes and we love flexibility. Free cancellations up to 48 hours after booking as long as you cancel 14 days out. Cancel your reservation up to 5 days before your trip for 100% money back! If you cancel within 5 days of your start date you will receive 75% back.
Do I Have to Drop the Van Off by a certain Time?
Our pickup and drop off time are flexible but we ask that all rentals be dropped off by 5pm. This allows us to properly clean and inspect every vehicle before its next adventure.
What About Insurance?
To help with coverage, we’ve partnered with Outdoorsy to offer full coverage on every rental. We don’t make any money on the insurance coverage but love the peace of mind. 3 levels of coverage can be priced during the checkout process. If your personal auto policy cover’s rentals or RVs, then you can decline our coverage. We just ask that you call your insurance company before your trip and fill out our insurance binder.
How Will I Know How to Use Everything?
Before your rental, you will receive a link to our “how-to” videos which cover the basics. We’ll also do a thorough walkthrough and explanation of everything at the time of pickup. This usually takes around 30 minutes and we will answer any questions you may have.
What about Shower/Restroom?
Each van in our fleet is unique, but some vans come with toilets and outdoor showers. Be sure to check your vans listing to see what's included. If your van doesn’t have those options, a campground is a great option for showering and using the bathroom.
What if I Break Down?
Every Gearbox rental comes with road side assistance through Coach-Net. This allows you to worry less and focus on your adventure. Our #1 concern is your safety and experience and we will do whatever we can to get back on the road as quickly as possible without delay.
Build FAQs
How much does it cost to start?
We only require 1000 to get on our waiting list. Once your slot comes available, it’s around 60% (materials cost) to get to work on your build. Once your van is ready for pick up you can pay the remaining balance
How long does it take to build out a van?
Most of our van builds take between 8-12 weeks from start to finish. Once we build your design and quote, we’ll have a more accurate time estimate.
Do you provide the van?
We don’t provide vans, but we know a thing or two about buying the perfect van. Once we’ve discussed your goals we’re happy to help find the van of your dreams through one of our dealer partners or a third party.
How much does a build cost?
Every build is custom and prices vary greatly. Most of our builds range from 75k-105k. There are many factors that play a role, including van size, materials, and features. We’re happy to build a custom quote for you. Just give us a call
Can I finance the build?
We don’t offer in house financing at this time. Most of our customers deal directly with their banks and credit unions for their loans.
Do you ofer a warranty?
Yes! All of our builds come with a 2 year workmanship warranty. Individual electrical elements have varying warranties depending on the manufacturer but we always work with our customers to make things right.
